Megan Whitmarsh
Yeti Logic

Yeti Logic is a sampling of Megan Whitmarsh’s embroidery shown in a manner meant to imply geometry, stacking and interlocking elements such as bricks, legos or crystal formations. In this invented world, elves wear tiny gold necklaces and yetis visit discos; in lands inhabited by icebergs, crystals, rays and forests. Her themes can best be visually described as scenes of fantasy characters existing amongst the detritus of the modern world. They can best be conceptually described as the artist’s attempt to reconcile the ataxia of the modern world with an optimistic vision of the future dictated by an internal logic and supernatural iconography. Socializing yetis, elf girls and boys make and examine large sculptures and geometric crystal forms that reference both scientific and spiritual structures. Having grown up in the 70’s and 80’s, the artist, like many of her generation, uses the visual noise of her youth as inspiration, rather than the history of painting.
Tofer
Vacation Standards

Tofer is back! In the follow-up to his critically acclaimed, best selling debut, Finger Bang!, Tofer continues to confuse the gorgeous and the grotesque. Arousal and disgust fall in lock step with images of devotion and dementia. In Tofer’s world, risk is standard, peril is bewitching, and common sense is always on vacation.
Clayton Brothers
Caught Being Good

Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday. Clayton Brothers, Rob and Christian combined forces to execute and collaborate on their shared visions of life beneath the superficial glaze of suburban culture. Using a universal, visual vernacular of superstition, institutional irony, story telling and urban legends, and combining stories from the lives they have witnessed, their paintings and installations hint at past worlds fleetingly glimpsed from train windows and interstate highways. Worlds where souls have crossed paths and stories have been abandoned. The Clayton Brothers are driven by an unknown narrative. Their paintings are created to tell overlooked stories and to ultimately reveal their own.
Robert Hardgrave
Magic Beans

A self-developed artist, Robert Hardgrave creates autobiographical work, which is both highly intricate and abundant with personal symbols. Inspired by experiences from disease and recovery, his paintings and drawings reflect ideas of reincarnation and the richness of life beyond death. Every year since Robert Hardgrave received a kidney transplant, he completes a project to celebrate the anniversary of the gift of life. Magic Beans, dedicated to the family of the donor who’s organ makes it possible for Hardgrave to continue producing work, making this book his 5th anniversary project.
Monica Canilao
This is home

The miscellany of Oakland – a peculiar array of things that have been neglected, forgotten or lost over time. Trash kids with wooden eyes sit shaded under intricate lace awnings, while mystic war parties trudge down empty graveled streets. Old ghostly memories of hand holding, cobwebs, god’s eyes and dust. Monica Canilao effortlessly takes these ribbons of thought and process and sews them together with a pallete of dirt greens, piss yellow browns, bloody mouths, wooden bones and smoke. This is no escape or exaggeration – this is home.
